When I was young mom studying biology and nutrition at the University of Iceland, I suddenly had no option but to figure out something to feel less stressed, something to lower my anxiety, something to help me calm down and something to help me sleep.
I was in constant fight, flight or freeze mode. My anxiety was my daily companion. If I slept in, I would get a migraine-like headache. My body couldn't even handle rest anymore. Nothing was working the way I wanted it to work.
So I went to a yoga class. I had heard that it worked very well for stressed out people. After the first 1 or 2 sessions - I felt I could breath again. I noticed the beautiful sunset on my way home from class. I saw the bigger picture. What was important and what I could let go of.
This was the start of my journey to a less stressful life, a more relaxed, a calmer life and less sleep deprived life. The journey to connect to myself again.
Over the years I've accumulated a lot of knowledge about how best to calm your mind and body and to change the construction of your brain. I even have done a few yoga teacher training, yoga nidra teacher training, clinical hypnosis and compassion focused training to name a few. I'm always looking for ways to feel calmer and less stressed.
